Lori McIntyre is an award winning educator who started her career as a case manager with the State of Missouri helping families in need. While in this role, Lori found a greater need to help children see their potential and break the poverty cycle that plagued the many families she served. She entered the education field as a 5th grade teacher in an urban district in Missouri. While in the classroom, she collaborated to write curriculum and assessments based on the Missouri Grade Level Expectations, then Common Core Learning Standards, and eventually the Missouri Learning Standards.
Within the first few years of being a teacher, she was named Building Teacher of the Year, a proud recipient of “A Day Made Better” award, and was nominated by a parent and received the “Verizon Foundation Fund. “ After 10 years, she transitioned to an instructional coach position. Alongside a great principal and mentor, they worked to improve Professional Learning Communities through Data Teams. She supported teachers in best practices of using data to help drive instruction. She has created, presented and co-presented many professional development sessions. Lori has worked closely with new teachers, collaborated with teachers through coaching cycles and continues to write curriculum and assessments. After 5 years of instructional coaching, Lori realized she missed working with children day-to-day and decided to return to her true passion of teaching and is now an elementary reading teacher.
